Manama, (BNA)– The Interior Ministry’s resolve to deal with any security violations according to the law has been stressed today. Information Affairs Minister Isa Abdulrahman Al Hammadi emphasised today at the post-Cabinet press conference, which was attended by Energy Minister Dr. Abdul Hussain Mirza, that any security arrests occur according to legal procedures and not political ones. He said sovereignty of the law guarantees freedom of opinion for all without breaching the principle of responsibility.

Concerning the latest security developments, the minister explained that summoning the Secretary General of Al-Wefaq Islamic Society by the Interior Ministry for questioning over acts of sabotage and blocking of roads in a rally was in line with legal procedures followed when the law is transgressed. He added mass media and citizens will be updated on any related details.

The Information Affairs Minister affirmed that the case is legal and not political as it is related to sovereignty of the law. He pointed out that all citizens in Bahrain are exercising their political right freely and without any accountability as long as there is no breach of the law.

Regarding the government’s programme, the minister said reviewing the government’s blueprint is at its final stage before submitting it to the parliament on January 6. Concerning the effect of the drop in oil prices on Bahrain, he said previous experiences have shown wisdom of His Royal Highness the Premier and the capability of the government to overcome those challenges.

For the culture and tourism sectors, he underlined their key role for the national economy, pointing out that determining the competent authority for them in the government is still underway.
