Manama, (BNA)A two-month ban on outdoor work during the hottest hours of summer will take effect tomorrow (July1), Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan announced. People will not be allowed to work outdoors between noon and 4pm in July and August inn uncovered sites, in line with edict (3) for 2013. 

The ministry urged all companies and establishments which have uncovered works sites to abide by the ban to protect works during summer scorching heat. In a statement today, the minister stressed the importance of the measure which complies with Bahrain’s international obligations to protect workers and ensure their safety. 

Citing official statistic figures, he said that over 98% of companies complied with the two-month ban, which helped reduce work accidents during summer. He announced that the ministry would conduct unannounced inspections to crackdown on violations and refer lawbreakers to justice.
