Manama, (BNA) – Gulf Air, Bahrain national carrier, has recently signed a three-year deal with EMC to meet the airline’s IT storage requirements and boost its business.


EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses to transform operations and deliver IT service.

Gulf Air Acting CEO, Maher Salman Al-Musallam, said that Gulf Air is pleased to extend partnership with EMC that dates back to 2009, when it became the Gulf Air primary data storage infrastructure provider. 

Gulf Air Information Technology Director, Dr Jassim Haji, revealed that Gulf Air put the Private Cloud Computing programme into effect in 2010, which led to the increase of the daily operations efficiency level and enhancing customer service. He added EMC is a key enabler in supporting our Private Cloud Computing programme. 

EMC Gulf and Pakistan Regional General Manager, Habib Mahakian, said as part of Gulf Air’s quest to find a solution to enhance its capabilities and future growth, Gulf Air, in partnership with EMC, has successfully utilized cloud computing solutions for its growing daily businesses. 

Gulf Air has been at the forefront of introducing several innovations and improvements in its IT operations including the recent introduction of Private Cloud Computing. The airline also adopts several “green” solutions in its information technology infrastructure and practices including last year’s launch of its state-of-the-art, energy efficient Data Centre at the airline’s headquarters that is one of the most environmentally friendly IT centers in Bahrain.
