Manama,  (BNA)– In line with a decision by Interior Minister Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Bahrain and the United Kingdom to streamline entry procedures for nationals from both countries without the need for a pre-visa, the General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence (GDNPR) has embarked on taking the necessary procedures in this respect.

The needed instructions have been issued to put the Interior Minister’s decision into force and generalise it in all exits and civil aviation, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said.

Accordingly, Bahraini citizens holding diplomatic and special passports are allowed to leave the country from all exits to the UK and Northern Ireland without the need for a pre-visa. They can also stay for a maximum period of six months on every visit. Nationals from the UK and Northern Ireland will be treated similarly, it has been revealed.
