Manama, (BNA)The private sector is playing a key role in spearheading Bahrain’s economic and urban development, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro said. He affirmed the Government’s support for the initiatives led by the private sector, commending large companies to optimise productivity so as to meet the needs of the local market. 

The minister was speaking as he received Al Sager Cement Factory Chief Executive Officer and managing director Salah Shareef and Balexco CEO Jassim Mohammed Seyadi. Al-Sager Cement Factory and Balexco outlined their plans to upgrade their production lines and add new ones to meet growing consumers’ needs.

In this regard, Mr. Shareef gave an update on Al-Sager Company expansion project and the modern new equipment, which is expected to arrive next month as per the agreement signed with Thai Company LV Technology.

The company is hoping to increase the production capacity to 2.500 tons per day and 825,000 tons per year. The minister was also briefed on the third phase of the expansion process.

Mr. Seyadi briefed the session on Balexco development plans as part of the expansion programme. 
He unveiled plans to replace a large part of the old equipment with new automatic ones. He pointed out that the firm had already completed the installation of the fourth production line. Work is being stepped up to update two lines to be semi-automatic, in addition to operating a dyeing unit according to the latest cutting-edge technology. The cost of these development projects are estimated to top $30 million. Monthly production will raise by up 8,000 tons per day and 33,000 tons per year.
