Manama,(BNA)A key workshop spotlighting the New York Arbitration Convention of 1958 opened yesterday in Manama. The Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution ( BCDR-AAA) is organizing the event in cooperation with the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).

The Arab League and the Supreme Judicial Council are also supporting the key workshop, which attracted an elite of judges representing 15 Arab countries. Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa addressed the three-day event, scheduled to conclude tomorrow (May5). 

He commended the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR-AAA) for organizing the pan-Arab event. He underscored the importance of the workshop which highlights the 1958 New York Arbitration Convention, focusing on the experiences of Arab Courts in the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.

International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) Representative Professor Jan Paulsson commended the organization of the workshop in Bahrain, stressing the crucial importance of trade arbitration. Guest of Honour Advisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and head of the Saudi Arbitration Team Dr. Prince Bandar bin Salman bin Mohammed Al-Saud addressed the opening session stressing the importance of arbitration in dispute resolution.
