Manama, . (BNA) College Medicine and Medical Sciences (CMMS) at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) hosted yesterday the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) in which MWPS’s Chairperson Marietta Dias and MWPS’s General Secretary Beverley Hamadeh conducted a seminar on migrant workers’ conditions in Bahrain.

Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences for scientific research Prof. Randa Hamadeh said that this seminar comes in the context of linking CMMS’s scientific syllabus to the Gulf community and its needs, and in line with CMMS’s philosophy of education.

MWPS’s General Secretary reviewed MWPS’s activities and objectives, adding that MWPS is a non-profit society run by volunteers and has four main committees.

MWPS’s Chairperson reviewed society’s efforts in human rights and protecting expats by housing them and retaining their rights.

The seminar addressed MWPS’s efforts in improving the work environment and rising the workers’ awareness.

MWPS’s representatives advised Medicine students to pay attention to three matters when dealing with expats, namely: Provide privacy for workers during the examination away from the employer, provide an interpreter during treatment if needed and taking into consideration accuracy while writing expats medical reports.
