Manama,  (BNA) – Chairman of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Dr. Abdulaziz Hassan Abul received here today a delegation of the Labour Party’s MPs from the House of Commons and the House of Lords at the British Parliament, currently on a visit to the kingdom.

Dr. Abul welcomed the delegation’s visit to the Kingdom, and affirmed the NIHR’s constant keenness to cooperate and coordinate with all human rights bodies.

He informed the delegation about the NIHR’s role in promoting human rights in the kingdom, and the mechanisms it uses to achieve its goals of spreading human rights concepts.

He reviewed with the British delegation the draft law on the establishment of the NIHR, currently examined by the Shura Council, noting that its articles and provisions are in accordance with the Paris Principles.

Members of the delegation lauded the role played by the NIHR in consolidating human rights, affirming the importance of enhancing its cooperation with the relevant sides in the United Kingdom to spread the culture of human rights.

Also present were the Chairperson of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee Dr. Mai Sulaiman and NIHR’s Secretary-General Dr. Ahmed Abdulla.
