Manama, Apr. 9. (BNA) – Social media experts at the Bahrain Social Media Club (SMC) said that business establishments in Bahrain have become more aware of the importance of social media networks in building reputation, marketing, increasing sales and reducing costs.

Speaking during SMC’s monthly “Tweet up” event, SMC President Ali Sabkar said that the number of companies, establishments, ministries and NGOs using social media networks has grown remarkably, which, he explained, reflected those sides’ awareness of the importance of those networks in providing a better understanding of the needs of the customers, improving productivity and increase investment revenues.

He added that SMC had recently embarked on an ambitious progrmme to train 1000 Bahrainis in 2014 on social media, noting that most requests have been submitted by companies, establishments and ministries seeking to take advantage of modern technology in developing their work.

SMC’s Media Committee Chairman Adel Maimoun said that social media networks should be used in a scientific and well-studied way in order to ensure optimum benefits, calling upon all sides seeking to profit from those networks to develop a strategy and train their officials on how to appear on those sites and post an attractive that encourages followers to participate and interact.

He stressed that each institution’s social media strategy and marketing plan should go hand in hand and cover all activities.

Those present highlighted their experiences in dealing with social media networks, and discussed ways to develop their establishments through social media.
