Manama, . (BNA) The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has dropped the complaint filed against the Kingdom of Bahrain in the aftermath of the February-March 2011 unrest.

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) hailed the ILO decision, commending the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain for its efforts to reinstate sacked workers and reintegate them in the labour market, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

In a statement today, the watchdog stressed the necessity of respecting human rights in compliance to the provisions of the 13th article of the constitution which stipulates: “Work is the duty of every citizen, is required by personal dignity and is dictated by the public good. Every citizen has the right to work and to choose the type of work within the bounds of public order and decency. The State guarantees the provision of job opportunities for its citizens and the fairness of work conditions”

It lauded Bahrain’s positive approach in dealing with the issue of sacked workers, paying tribute to the political leadership.
