Manama,  (BNA) — The ninth annual Spring of Culture Festival brings to life the legendary story of Troy with amazing performances from the Fire of Anatolia dance troupe on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th of March at Arad Fort in Muharraq.

The show portrays the legend of Troy, written by Anatolian poet Homer in his masterpiece the Iliad and the Odyssey in 1180 BC, and hailed as one of the most known compositions in the world.

One of the troupe’s biggest shows, Troy features an 8-meter high Trojan horse, over 2000 especially designed flowers, 3500 make up articles and 2000 meters of hand painted chiffon. To prepare for the show, the troupe went through over 7,200 hours of rehearsals and 5,400 hours of music preparations. The troupe also boasts the Guinness World Record for fastest performance with 241 steps per minute.

The Fire of Anatolia dance troupe has performed in front of around 35 million people in places like France, Egypt, Austria, Japan, Italy, the Denmark, Mexico, the United States of America, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Russia, Spain, Germany and China.

This is the second time the Fire of Anatolia dance troupe performs in the Spring of Culture since its launch in 2006. The troupe’s previous performances were well received by attendees in Bahrain.

The Spring of Culture Festival is organised by the Economic Development Board, the Ministry of Culture and Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, in collaboration with Al Bareh Art Gallery, Al Riwaq Art Space, and La Fontaine Centre. This year’s festival included performances by popular artist Mohammed Abdo, legendary singer Eric Clapton, and multiple Grammy award-winning duo Ramsey Lewis and Philip Bailey. The festival last event in Arad Fort will be a concert by the famous US singer Gloria Gaynor in Friday 4th April 2014.
