Manama, . (BNA) – Education and Training Development Committee convened at the Gudaibiya Palace today under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

During the meeting, the National Authority of Qualifications and Quality Assurance for Education and Training (NAQQAET) submitted a report on its performance from 2009 to 2013.

The panel was also informed about the high education strategy from 2014 to 2014 and the national strategy for scientific research.

In this regard, a presentation on ways to upgrade high education from international and economic perspectives was shown.

The committee stressed the importance of enhancing the quality of universities, and was assured on the procedures taken by the High Education Council to ensure quality education and make sure that the high education’s output meets the requirements of the labour market.

The panel affirmed that the procedures and plans put in place are in the right path.

Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak said that upgrading educational standards so as to meet the needs of the labour market requires more efforts and constant follow-up, highlighting the importance of devising the right strategies and plans.

The committee recommended more cooperation between the High Education Council and the NAQQAET in order to develop high education and ensure that it achieves all set goals.

The panel was informed about what has been implemented so far regarding linking educational output to the needs of the labour market.

Shaikh Mohammed commended the efforts and steps taken by the Education Ministry to provide quality services for students, especially regarding transportation through the provision of a new fleet of world-standard school buses, including special ones for transporting students with special needs.
