Manama, Feb 10 (BNA) — His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today received Citigroup’s CEO for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), James C. Cowles at Riffa Palace.

HRH Crown Prince highlighted Citigroup’s role in bolstering the banking and financial sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He went on emphasising Citigroup’s commitment to expanding operations in the Kingdom.

He praised Citigroup’s active role in Bahrain and across the wider GCC region, adding that Bahrain is committed to ensuring optimum regulations and guidelines that facilitate the expansion of financial institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In discussing the significance of Citibank to Bahrain’s banking and financial sector, HRH Crown Prince underscored the role of the banking and financial sector in creating job opportunities for Bahrainis and providing them with distinctive competencies. HRH Crown Prince added that the Kingdom is committed to supporting Citibank’s operations and developments in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In response, the EMEA’s CEO expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet HRH Crown Prince. He went on to highlight the role of the Kingdom’s liberal business environment in facilitating operations of the bank and confirmed Citigroup’s commitment to supporting the banking and financial sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting was also attended by Bahrain’s Central Bank Governor, Rashid Al-Miraj.
