Manama, Feb. 3. (BNA) – His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that the National Environment Day, observed annually on February 4, reflects the serious endeavours of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) to enable the citizens and residents to contribute to the national efforts to protect the kingdom’s environment and safeguard its wildlife resources.

He affirmed the SCE’s resolve to keep up with its efforts to ensure the continuity of sustainable economic, social and services development, in cooperation with all bodies and establishments in the kingdom.

He expressed confidence that the environmental work will be boosted in the coming period through the implementation of the principles of the Kingdom’s Environment Strategy 2020 and the approval of the national work plans to launch the National Initiative to Promote the Principles of Sustainability, in partnership with all competent sides.

SCE President Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad affirmed that the SCE will remain committed to its patriotic duties of protecting the kingdom’s environment and natural resources for the benefits of the future generations.

He praised the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government to step up efforts to protect the environment and safeguard wild life in the country.

He also thanked the Representatives and Shura councils for their support to environmental issues, paying tribute to all state bodies, NGOs and the private sector for their cooperation with the SCE.
